Sydney Gymnastic and Aquatic Centre (SGAC) prides itself on providing access to all people regardless of ages, backgrounds and abilities. We believe that swimming is an essential life skill that everyone regardless of age, background or ability should have the opportunity to learn. That’s why SGAC’s Special Needs Assistance Program (SNAP) is the perfect swimming program for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
SNAP Aquatics aims to develop multiple aquatic based skills for all people with an intellectual and/or physical disability. SGAC’s Special Needs Swimming lessons are 30 minutes in duration and strive to build the participant’s confidence, abilities and enjoyment in the water. There are four progressions starting with Level 1 through to Level 4. Our qualified coaches will assist the participant to build their confidence, ability and enjoyment in the water.
The Development Squad is designed to be a bridge between the SNAP Program and our mainstream Learn to Swim and Squad Programs. Training sessions run for 60 minutes. A portable chair lift, pool steps and shallow water entries into the pool makes getting into the water easy and comfortable for all participants.
